Don’t get me wrong, I really love shortcuts. I think I was the only one two years ago who could work with a WinXP PC totally without using a mouse. And even nowadays I still prefer keys to mouse moves, especially when I’m working on my notebook.

But it happened several times to me in the last days where I accidentely hit an unkown combination of keys (also known as shortcut) and suddenly something odd happened. Just now, I made my css stylesheets go away. Or yesterday, I was writing a comment for a weblog and suddenly the windows resized and the Webdeveloper extension was activated. Or all of a sudden the Filterset.G Updater showed up.

…to a new server. I finally decided that it would be a good thing to have a own vserver to play around with Rails, finally have IMAP-support, install Subversions, etc.

The server should be ready until Wednesday and I will then start changing the dns-records and everything else. So if you experience some downtime the next days, forgive me.

Munich

It’s the end of January and I finished my first semester at college :-). So at the moment I’m experiencing something which is called ‘holidays’, a strange period of time where people do just plainly nothing. Except going to parties, sleeping the whole day, writing tiny rails apps or going to the cinema.

That’s what I did. Paying for ‘Munich’ is definitely one thing I don’t regret. Although it’s quite brutal (which is probably the truth) it has a good story plot, fantastic actors and a really nice scenery. Go and watch it!

Going on vacation

I will have my final exam for this semester tomorrow and then finally, three weeks, doing plainly nothing. But actually that’s not true. I want to go on a small trip, visit one of Europe’s beautiful cities. I just can’t decide where to go. Wanna help? Vote for one of the following: London, Dublin, Barcelona and Stockholm.

I’ve already been to London (just for one day) and Barcelona (1 1/2 weeks, but I just love the city). Tell me your suggestions.

Another day, another useful rake command:

rake cleanup - Checks all your installed gems and uninstalles those which are old (thus, where a newer version is installed).

And, by the way, Rail’s migration feature is really, really cool.

My favourite piece of software (in the category “commercial”, “tool” and “information”) has entered a new stage (2.0 beta 1, to be exactly). Nick’s FeedDemon is now available and has got a new look, along with some nice features.

The whole thing looks cleaner now, the navigation bar to the left has been replaced by a treeview and there are also some statistics integrated (”Pay the most attention to”, “Pay the least attention to”) along with a new newspaper style.

If you’re up since seven o’clock and have been studying the whole time, take a quick break and check this out: Things My Boyfriend Says. Great!

I finally have sometime to keep you informed what’s going here (if that’s the point of interest for someone out there).

I have to pass a bunch of tests these days which are not quite interesting (business studies, physics, mathematics and technical drawing). Especially the last one is pretty annoying. I mean, hey, technical drawing! I’m studing information technolgies. Those fancy cubes which do all the funny things like playing sounds or doing strange things when you press the wrong key.

Another thing (and I’m sure I’ve written about it perhaps three times now) I wanna tell you is that I’m a proud co-author over at dopamineaddict.com. And I’ve written my very first lengthly article about GeoMint. Zach, the initial author is doing series about modifying your Worpdress theme and just today Happy wrote an article titled Studies on Love. So there’s something for everyone. Go, check it out (and spread it)!

I can remember that I wanted to mention some other things here but I can’t recall what it was. So, I wish you all a nice afternoon, hope to see you again soon here or over at dopamineaddict.
